Not A Treatment

GlykoNex is a dietary supplement. It is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease, including diabetes, prediabetes, hypertension or high cholesterol. The National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health states that there is not enough evidence that any dietary supplement can manage or prevent type 2 diabetes, and the FDA specifically warns that products claiming to be a “natural diabetes cure” or to “replace your diabetes medicine” are illegally marketed and potentially dangerous — see NCCIH on diabetes and dietary supplements. Never stop, reduce or delay prescribed treatment because of a supplement.

FDA Statement

These statements have not been evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration. GlykoNex is manufactured in an FDA-registered facility following Good Manufacturing Practices; that describes the facility's registration status and does not mean the product has been evaluated or approved by the FDA. Any claim of an “FDA approved” supplement is incorrect. For how this category is regulated, see the FDA dietary supplements resource.

Berberine Interaction Warning

This formula contains berberine, a pharmacologically active alkaloid that inhibits CYP3A4, CYP2D6 and CYP2C9 liver enzymes and P-glycoprotein, and can raise blood levels of other medicines. Documented concerns include diabetes medicines (risk of hypoglycaemia), anticoagulants, cyclosporine and statins. NCCIH reports berberine has been linked to a harmful buildup of bilirubin in infants and should not be used in pregnancy or breastfeeding or given to infants — see NCCIH on berberine. Consult a doctor or pharmacist before use. The full list is on our safety section.

Limits Of The Evidence

No independent clinical trial of the finished GlykoNex formula has been published, and per-ingredient amounts are not disclosed. The NIH Office of Dietary Supplements and NCCIH describe the evidence for these ingredients as weak and inconsistent. Nothing on this Website should be read as a claim that GlykoNex has been proven to lower blood sugar, blood pressure or cholesterol.
